Our Story:

 

7,000 Jars of Beer is owned and run by daughter and father-team Susie and Keith Statham.  Susie fell in love with craft beer whilst visiting the Beermoth shop in Manchester, and soon found herself working for Partizan Brewing in Bermondsey, where she spent a couple of years managing the sales and logistics side of the brewery, whilst also working at beer festivals and the brewery taproom on weekends. 

 

After a while she felt she needed a new challenge and Keith, now retired, encouraged her to work for herself and prompted the idea of starting a new venture together. They toyed with the idea of opening a brewery together, but with the vast amount of breweries popping up in London over the past ten years they felt there was enough good beer being brewed here already. What was really needed were more places to buy the stuff. So began the journey to open a bottle shop in their home town of Kingston upon Thames.

After finding the right location, having the shop fitted (which took a lot longer than expected), sourcing the beer (after a lot of tasting - much to Keith's 'dismay') everything finally began to fall into place and the shop began to take shape.

Our Aim:

 

We care greatly about beer, and our focus is on interesting, high-quality and conscientious beers and breweries. We give these micro breweries space on the shelf and show people what a small team of brewers in some old wellies and a brew kit can do. We stock fresh, ever changing beers; from punchy IPAs and dry-hopped lagers to barrel-aged sours and rich roasty stouts.

 

We aim to bring the best of what’s being brewed directly to Kingston. We also dedicate a portion of the shop to artisanal wines, small batch gins/whiskeys and other 'off the beaten track' spirits.
